Here are some tips to carry strawberries back home:

  • Carry strawberries in a vented box – which allows air to pass through & keeps them dry
  • Storage: can be kept outside if consumed within 2 days, else refrigerate the fruits (No Deep Freeze)
  • DO NOT remove the green stem-leaves on top of the fruits while carrying/storing them (Removal of the stem evaporates the moisture of the fruit)
  • Wash the Strawberries ONLY before eating – DO NOT wash them and store (Strawberries are like sponges, they absorb water immediately, which may lead to fungus formation during transit)

  1. Yum! And super delighted to see the prices of strawberries per kilo! Here we get a measly handful for 80 bucks! Back when we visited from college, we used to have paper cones full of strawberries, akin to having bhelpuri from a chaat stall, for 12 bucks a helping. 🙂 Good to know that some things haven’t changed entirely. 🙂

    1. And yet we get awfully-tasting strawberries here 😦 Mahabaleshwar is a strawberry lover’s paradise wrt taste & price 🙂
I doubt I can eat any strawberries from elsewhere :p

  2. Really good article 🙂 Thanks mate.. Im looking to visit in 2018. Is it a must to visit during the strawberry fest around april or anytime around late dec to april will do ? to feel the vibe of strawberries 😀 😀 ?? if yes.. is there any perticular name or place or event that i should not miss there at mahabaleshwar for strawberries ?
